Custom Knits

I love custom knits.
Whether it's just asking for something in a different colour.

Or a completely new product designed from scratch.
It's a chance to create something truly unique, that's exactly what a customer wants.

Here are a few examples of things I've been asked to make.

Heirloom Christmas stocking

A customer asked me to replicate his own childhood stocking for his partner and later for their first child. I charted the pattern from photos of the original stocking, and now there's one for each member of the family.

Cotton wrist warmers

A customer asked for a cotton version of my Wear 3 Ways Wristwarmers, normally knitted in luxury merino wool. I knitted her a pair in the super-soft organic cotton I use for soap sacks.

Purple bottle sling

A friend asked me for a bottle carrier with clip-on strap in her favourite colour - purple!

Bee pompom keyring

Based on my single colour zero waste pompom keyrings, a customer asked for a yellow and black striped bee version. I had a lot of fun working out what looked best!

Family Christmas stockings

This order gave me the inspiration for the three colours I now offer my extra-large Christmas stockings in - and the customer later came back for another stocking for the newest addition to the family!

Wash mitts

A pair of wash mitts based on my soap saver design (because the customer saw my soap savers first), in organic, undyed cotton.
