Valentine's Day is coming up fast, and what better way to celebrate it than to knit lots and lots of hearts?
So I thought I'd share my Heart Knitting Pattern with you!
I developed this heart design as a kind of 'punctuation' to my Bubble Writing Alphabet, along with an ampersand and an exclamation mark. My pattern testers and I felt these were the symbols that would really accentuate the alphabet. The heart is great for joining a pair of names or initials, or even replacing a letter as I've done below!
Once I'd written the Heart Knitting Pattern, though, I realised just how versatile it is and how many other things it can be used for. Here are just a few of the things you can make with my free Heart Knitting Pattern:
A hanging decoration for your door or Christmas tree
A banner of stuffed hearts (all the same size or different sizes)
A big, chunky knit cushion
A set of washcloths
A banner of flat knit hearts
A little stuffed heart to gift someone for Valentine's or as a long-distance hug
If you'd like some tips on how to adapt my Heart Knitting Pattern to various different sizes and finished objects, you can purchase it here and not only get an easy to print version but also 3 pages of tips for how to use it. You'll find information about what needles and yarn (and how much yarn!) you'll need to knit different sizes of hearts, and also tips on how to knit the pattern and turn it into your desired finished ornament, cushion or washcloth!
If you don't have a printer (or can only print in black and white and would prefer a full colour version), you can buy my Heart Knitting Pattern colour printed onto good quality paper, ready to be sent out to you in the post. Go here to buy a printed pattern.
If rainbows are as much your thing as they are mine, you can find directions for how to knit a rainbow heart washcloth (as well as 4 square washcloths) in my Rainbow Washcloths pattern.
You can also buy an eco-friendly Knit Kit for a Wool Heart Ornament using my Heart Knitting Pattern at my Etsy store. The Knit Kit contains the perfect amount of sustainably sourced wool, organic wool stuffing and burlap ribbon to knit your heart, along with wooden needles if required - so it's just about as zero waste as it can be! Available in pink, cream or rainbow.
Or if you'd rather use up some of your stash (this is a great stash-buster knitting pattern!) and just want the pattern... here it is!
